After his much acclaimed sophomore release, 20/20, it was only a matter of time before Reach Records’ Trip Lee hopped into the studio for his junior album. The result, a 16-track banger titled Between Two Worlds, landed in stores on June 22nd and immediately placed Trip Lee’s name among hip hop bestsellers.
 Following its release, Between Two Worlds became the 7th-highest selling digital album on the iTunes Store, going head-to-head with such releases as Eminem's Recovery, Miley Cyrus' Can't Be Tamed and Ozzy Osbourne's Scream. Between Two Worlds was also the 10th-highest selling MP3 download on Amazon.
The album opens with a straight-shooting Trip making a point for Christian hip-hop on Real Life Music, before following it up with Snitch and Invade, both rather laudable attempts at a fresh sound involving softer singing and even violin strains. Trip plays around with more of the diversity on the salsa sounding I Love Music, this one featuring Reach Records’ mate Sho Baraka.
No Worries joins Snitch as probable party favorites, while Twisted will likely be the one of the album’s big stereo bangers. The latter features This’l , PRo and industry bigwig Lecrae, with the three rappers engaging in tight verses and PRo providing an incredible hook. The album’s lead single, The Invasion (Hero), features Jai and is an apt climax to Trip’s message of redemption as the two chant its anthemic refrain, You already saved the day!
Says Trip of his choice of title:
I chose the title “Between Two Worlds” because that is where I find myself. And the cover is meant to reflect that reality. Not only am I fallen, but I live in a world that is fallen, interacting with fallen people and fallen situations. However, as a believer my citizenship is in Heaven (Philippians 3:20-21) and I look to the day when Jesus will “recreate” His creation. So while I seek to navigate life in this world, I look forward to the new Heaven and new Earth (Revelation 21). But until I get there, I worship and follow the Hero who already saved the day.
And He sure did.
