Reggae act Monty G is getting set to jet into the country for a concert on the 25th of April. To be held at the ICC, the unbelievably priced event (at only 100 bob!) will feature performances by Monty as well as other local acts including Zidi the Band, Kevo Yout and others. This year's SPA-Fest takes off with the preliminary round of the competitions going down on 24th April at ICC Imara. According to Marvyn Omari of Dance Nasi, the event's organizers, 19 teams have confirmed participation and the festival will be a full day event to accomodate all the performances. The last leg of the countrywide Groove Party is set to take place at the KICC on 18th April. Going on all afternoon, and for free entry, the gig will feature performances by many of the artists nominated in various categories for this year's Groove Awards with Skiza. It's set to be an interesting A-ffair for sure. Four of Kenya's top afro acts will be sharing the stage on April 1st at the Alliance Francaise for a gig dubbed 'The A-ffair'. The 2010 Groove Awards with Skiza entered the first crucial stage on March 13 with the closing of the entry submission period. With entries received from the breadth of the country as well as the East African Community block, the nomination panel is hard at work to pick the best six in each category for public voting. Gospel television continued its interesting patterns with more shifts recently that saw the wildly popular Kubamba crew opt out of NTV's Crossover for Citizen TV. The crew has the same Sunday morning slot on the rival station, alongside Mavuno Church which also forms part of the Sunday line-up for the station. Word has it that Stomp producer and Gospel TV veteran Arthur K is heading back to NTV as part of the arrangement, after his stint with Citizen.

Eunice Njeri has released her latest album, Wimbo Wangu. The record, which features production from the likes of RKay, Chris Adwar and Billy Frank, was released at the beginning of the year and is available in shops locally. Eunice however says that she is preparing an official launch for the album at a date to be communicated later.

Pop outfit Chit Chat have released the video to their sophomore single, I La La La Like It, this time official and edited. The raw version had been leaked to media houses late 2009, but the Kijiji Records artistes opted to edit and re-release it. The video is shot by Sakata Media, who also hemmed their debut, Buzzin.

Gospel ragga artist Stichie is set to perform in Nairobi this February. Best known for his hit songs Gospel Reggae and Fast & Pray, Stichie will reportedly be in the country on February 7 for an afternoon performance at the St. Andrew's Hall on University Way. The gig is being organized by Spinrej DJs, Gospoepic & Pambazuka.

The biggest annual new year's eve party, Totally Sold Out, returns for its fifth edition. Slated for the Nairobi Chapel grounds, the party is set to feature three jamming arenas. Whereas Arena 1 will feature a live concert featuring the likes of M.O.G, Juliani, Rufftone, Jemimah Thiong'o and others, arena 3 will feature various DJs at Club Xpressions. Interestingly, this year sees a third arena dedicated to over 25's, and features live music from afro artists such as Kanjii, Sara mitaru, Webi, Atemi, Chris Bittok and others.

Four episodes of spoken word poetry featuring some of the city's top poets, including Number 8 and Eko Dydda, are to be screened on NTV between the 24th and 27th of December. Reminding us that Christmas is all about Jesus, the episodes are scheduled for 4:30pm on the 24th and 25th, 6:30pm on the 26th and 1:30pm on the 27th.

Singer Atemi and the Villagers Band team up on the 27th of December to present a special holiday musical experience. Set for Club Galileo, the event will also see The Villagers release their "Nofork Hotel" debut album. The event kicks off at 7pm.
