Glory Defined, Right? - Carol Wambui | Print |  E-mail

Image In the morning, you wake up to ‘Glory-Defined’, so to speak, embracing a fresh and crisp new promise; a new out look to life riding on the motivation you are giving yourself - ‘I can make it…I will make it!’. Today, you know beyond all reasonable doubt that nothing could possibly go wrong. Then later, much later in the day as you struggle … well, almost tremble into bed because of what the day has dealt you, it’s more like Glory-U-N-D-E-F-I-N-E-D’.

What happened between sunrise and sundown? All in a span of a minimum of twelve hours… maybe more? What has got you trembling, stumbling into bed? You end up drifting off to sleep anxious, wondering what tomorrow brings or even if tomorrow will come. You wonder how to pray and talk to your father in heaven.

Why should we come from such a high to literally… well, almost rock-bottom? Those moments when lights go out all around you, the darkness sets in, and all that’s left is to accept that this just might be the end. Your dreams run like sand through the tightly clenched fists and you feel like you are slipping away, confused, and asking, what happens after this?

We do not have answers to those life’s questions, at least not heavily reliant on our own wisdom, knowledge and understanding. Yet, like a wounded warrior fighting for his life, maybe even his last sparse breaths, we must rise up! With our pain, wounds misconceptions and anxieties, we must still rise up to face another ‘Glory Defined’.

Funny thing is, it is not even promised to us, just like the warrior who is not promised his win, but nevertheless rises up to fight, envisioning his victorious, and dare I say healed tomorrow…and with that, rises up!

Grab onto that knot on the rope, it should undoubtedly keep you from sliding down to rock-bottom. After all this has passed, I will stand, you will stand, we shall hope again, and then there will be beauty from ashes.

You can do more than just get through the day, even when you don’t understand how it comes to this. After all that has passed, that flame will leave you refined, like gold purified.

Glory Defined…..Beauty from the ashes…
