GET PAID Artists Breakfast | Print |  E-mail

Are you an artist? When was the last time you received a cheque for your recorded work? When did a radio station last call you to pay you royalties for playing your song? Never? That sounds like the answer most local artists give to this question. Moreover, the issue of the law and systems surrounding royalties in Kenya is at best a misty terrain for many Gospel artists.

But the reality is if you intend to make a career off your music, then you must be able to make a living out of it. Whether you’re an established artist or an upcoming one, this is an issue central to your music career. That’s where the GET PAID edition of the Artists Breakfast comes in.

On 9th of August 2008, the breakfast returns at the Pneuma Church from 9.00 am, this time featuring Maurice Okoth, the General Manager of MCSK (Music Copyright Society of Kenya). Mr. Okoth and the entire management team will be talking about how artists can benefit financially from their music, and how the whole system works here in Kenya.

The session will be moderated by Mwafrika.com’s David Kuria and Hope FM’s breakfast presenter Andrew Alovi. As usual, the artists breakfast is free for all artists, and should be over by around noon.

Bottom Line - any artist who wants to GET PAID cannot afford to miss this edition of the Artists Breakfast!
