Skoolz Out Impresses! | Print |  E-mail

As promised, LOUD and FUNKY – Skool was definitely Out on Saturday 8th of August! That would be the long and short of this event.

But allow us to paint you a picture. The show kicked off with some great DJ mixes, with K-Krew front-man DJ Moz behind the decks, with able support lent by Johny Celeb. They got the ‘Skools Out’ audience all rallied and eagerly waiting the show's kick-off.

To start with, Astar skillfully guided the show with extremely impressive Mc’ing skills. Not only was he glib and on point, he kept the crowd anticipating his entry each time he popped up on stage - whether to announce the next act or dish out goodies in the form of giveaways.

Some of these surprises included dance performances by the Saintz, Impact and Alabaster crews. But that was just a taste – when the main acts got on stage, it was electric! First up, the hosts Chit Chat wowed with their ever increasing creativity. Their two scorchers, Buzzing and I Like were much appreciated sing-alongs as these newly-turned-pop MCs impressed.

Holy Dave and Eko Dydda showed why Niko Na Reason is easily one of today's biggest holy hip-hop jams, crunking along all the way. Pandemonium greeted Juliani’s set, as has seemingly become the norm, with his fans screaming their hearts out; and singing along to every word on his Hela jam. What a performer! What a fanatical following!

In the midst of all the hype and well-deserved noise, one Number 8 caused the house to pause and listen, as he beautifully unwrapped the art that is spoken word. Beautiful. Shortly, it was back to the music – MOG, Verbal, Jal and even Kanjii Mbugua graced the stage, keeping the crowd totally hyped all throughout the afternoon.

With all said and done, a most impressive show!
