From the Cross Movement Records' label, Da T.R.U.T.H's 'The Big Picture', and The Tonic's 'The Dash' albums are up for Best Rock/Rap Gospel album.

Great news for Gospel is the fact that a good number of artists are featured in non-Gospel categories. Ann Nesby, former lead singer of gospel legends Sounds of Blackness, and now successful solo artist in her own right picks up two nominations in undoubtedly the tightest category featuring any Gospel name. In the “Best Traditional R&B Vocal Performance” category, she competes against the likes of Beyonce and Anthony Hamilton, while in the “Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group With Vocals” she's up against the likes of Jamie Foxx and India.Arie. The latter category also sees The Clark Sisters nominated for the Higher Ground collaboration with American Soul/Funk Band Robert Randolph & the Family.

Even Tonex, in undoubtedly his most controversial year to date, features in the “Best Urban/Alternative Performance” where acts India.Arie and Bilal are featured.
