TSO Volume 5 Rocks! | Print |  E-mail

December 31, Nairobi Chapel - There is nothing as gratifying as attending the same gig every year, yet finding something new each and every time.  They promised they would totally sell us out and true to their word; K-Krew just did that. The fifth edition of Totally Sold Out was by no means like previous ones, for it was quite captivating thanks to great performances, the spectacular fire work display and the mammoth crowd that showed up.

The love was loud, the people ecstatic and the music enchanting. One could tell from the look of the expectant faces that it was going to be quite a night. To say the venue was packed would be an understatement, for there was no telling when the multitude would stop thronging in for even past midnight, crowds were still streaming in.

If the performances were packed in doses, then each and every dosage was stronger, sweeter and better. From Jemimah Thiong'o, Mercy Masika, Emmy Kosgei and Michelle represented the ladies on the mic, while the duo of SK Blue and Ringtone brought the house down with their recent hit, Pamela. Juliani and Eko Dydda also threw down powerful acts, as did the smartly clad Saintz and Ignitaz. The artistes were dedicated to their cause and gave stellar performances, perhaps a testament of the fact that it was either the best of their first or last performances of the year.

Arena One, the Live Concert tent proved to be the most popular, with thousands clogging it to either watch or sing along to their favorite artistes. Arena Two, attracted those who wanted to dance their year away and was kept grooving by among others Djs Celeb, Krowbar, Soxxy and Sparrxx. The newly introduced Arena Three, was a crowd puller too, this one open only to +25 year olds, proving to be the most mellow of the three arenas. Still Kanjii, Atemi, The Villagers and others gave it the sparkle it was hyped to be by throwing very brilliant live performances.

Apart from the fire work display that was quite a highlight for the night, Eunice Njeri led praise and worship, culminating to the end year message delivered by Pastor Julian Kyuna.

Save for a near stampede at the gates, it was quite a concert. What a night, what a gig what a way to bid 2009 and usher 2010. TSO 6 is worth looking forward to.
