Memorial Park, February 14 - What would have been a better way to celebrate Valentine than in an atmosphere of love, lounge and laughter than by attending the Mad Love Lounge? Well, if you were looking for the ingredients that make the day special, they were all here; love, roses, music and an ambiance that was just soothing. Yes, and of course it was in a park, the perfect natural location for a love themed event.
Neither pictures nor words can fully unwrap the days happening for it was bigger, better and beyond other previous events. Apart from the usual rations of poetry, spoken word, rap, and singing, there were more servings including new acts, a live band and to add verve to the whole thing, Play Stations!
From the regulars Number 8, Gerriey, Kamlesh, Michell and Amason to the new comers Mercy, Big Jack, Simone and Ayana to mention but a few, the performances were simply brilliant. For the first time, the event had so many acts (well over fifty) that there was no telling when the microphone would be put to rest. Emerging from the shadows of Eternal MCs, there was no doubt that MC Dice stole the shine of the day, with his new single, On and On. For his ceaseless wowing of the crowd, he was rewarded with a much deserved standing ovation.
Mr. T and Mad Love host Holy Dave were the day's MCs, never leaving a dull moment. Even when the event came to a late end, there were still others whose thirst had not been quenched and hoped the gig would be longer. For the first of the year, Mad Love Lounge showed why it has quickly become Nairobi's most followed urban movement, and the voices out of it keep getting better. We can only brace ourselves for the next! DJs GG, Octave & Shock Chill Out
