Kahawa DC, March 6 - When one thinks of an awards ceremony, the first thing to come to mind is the red carpet, trophies and of course, the grandeur that is associated with it. Well, dance group Saints parted the curtains on their own inaugural awards show and did not disappoint, laying out a fun-filled event full of glamour and glory.  The award ceremony sought to recognize and honor people who have supported in hand, in cash and in kind the group for the past one year. What more, they were also awarding those among themselves who had distinguished themselves by exemplary service and commitment. Saints left nothing to chance – a glamorous setting in deco and dress, lots of food, and great performances gave the event sparkle and shine.
Whilst the Saints band played renditions and their own compositions, guests were treated to a buffet and performances by in house and local artistes. Chit Chat’s Bupe’s testimony and passionate performance rocked the house, as did rising star Eko Dydda with his trademark jam, Niko Na Reason. The exciting Mbuvi also had the stage, as did homegrown acts Kriss, Florence and Innocent.
When the time came to announce the winners, David Muchiri was named Saint of the Year, with Christopher Njogu (better known as the artist Kriss) and Katherine Macharia sharing the runners-up spoils.
Without an enormous budget or big time corporate sponsors, Saintz proved to all and sundry that there is more to Awards ceremonies than resources. The fact that they pulled it off style is a pointer to things to come from this creative outfit.
