Chaguo La Teeniez 2010 Winners | Print |  E-mail

It's tough to argue against the case for this being the season when Gospel is king. The genre has outshined all comers in recent times. At this year's Chaguo La Teeniez (CHAT) Awards held at the Bomas of Kenya on 17th April, the results were plain to see.

In fact, the popular awards, even though feature some of the more baffling categories in as far as music and entertainment is concerned, continue to vindicate and support the cause of Gospel music. Consider this: the only music categories with specific awards are all Gospel categories (Gospel artist, Gospel Group, and Gospel song). All other music genres are lumped together.

Still, even though the pomp and razzmatazz of past years is gone (no hummers, choppers or the like), the awards continues to impress.

Let's talk awards. Eko Dydda's rise as one of the top names within Gospel was cemented when he scooped the Teeniez Hottest Track for his collabo with Holy Dave, beating out the likes of Redsan, Nonini and Mejja, as well as winning the Teeniez brand new artist. He was only edged out out by a very determined MOG in the Group or Collaboration Category, a group that also went on to pick up the Teeniez Gospel Group category.

Juliani
bagged the overall Best Gospel artist award as well as Teeniez' Gospel Song together with Alemba and DJ Sadic (Pages Za Bible). Teenage prodigy Verbal also picked up the Teeniez Artist / Group in the schools category.

1"HolyDave NOT mentioned???"
at Monday, 19 April 2010 14:28by Melvin
Thanks for the story but how comes you haven't mentioned Holy Dave while reporting on 'Niko na reason' winning the Teeniez Track of the year. The song is a COLLABO but media these days does not report things the way they are or should be which makes me wonder! The organizers of CHAT told HD that he should come but when he inquired about performing they told him only Eko Dydda was performing, thats why he didnt attend. That's so sad. As his supporter and as an integrity supporter I'm not happy about some things and there4 I'm praying hard that God brings sanity and fairness into this industry
