December 4, Ufungamano House - Dance outfit Detour were the big winners at the 2010 Talentmania Awards, bagging four trophies in all to cap an impressive run in almost every category.

The group beat the three other dance contestants, ICED, YRC and Flip It to pick the best dance group award, best costume for dance as well as the best female dancer, the latter picked by Doreen Sasaka who also bagged the trophy for spoken word. Detour’s John Ngugi also got the trophy for outstanding male dancer award, ahead of Flip’s George Lumumba and John Mutua of YRC.

On the music side, Mavuno’s Michael Kubai impressed with his vocal prowess, picking the outstanding male vocalist and songwriter awards. Winnie Kagombe beat equally talented Eunice and Betty to pick the female vocalist award in what was probably this year’s most tightly contested category.

It wasn’t all awards at the gig though, with former Talentmania winner and Groove nominee Gerriey Wainaina rocking a couple of his jams and impressing on the sax, to the delight of many. Mwafrika.com feature writer Sam Kithika was on the mic as MC, with SPAFest co-founder Marvin Omari leading the pack of finals judges that included Christine Muna and Gerriey.
