October 29, NPC Valley Road -While the rains pounded and the weather spelled gloom in most of Nairobi, another side was ecstatic, joyful and in jubilation; thanks to the thirty member Celebration Choir, who raised a fire of praise, worship and dance on their second trip to the country. The Zimbambwe ensemble, famous for their hit single, Tambira, gave their audience all in an unforgettable and inspired show.

Led by the acclaimed Pastor Bonnie Deuschle, the team gave a solid two hours performance of over eighteen songs that included testimonies of their journey of faith, favour and fervour. Their show included old familiar tunes plus new pieces that they were only too glad to share with their hungry audience of listeners.

As expected, the famous Tambira was first off the post, to the great delight of the massive audience thronging the NPC sanctuary. From fast paced catchy melodies to slow mellow songs, it was a sweet oscillation of the best of both worlds with outstanding tunes such as Blessed Assurance, Rock My World, Kingdom Come and Let Us Pray. One cannot be in Nairobi and not learn the lingo: Nakupenda, a smooth jam about God’s love got the audience excited at how fast the band managed to blend South and East Africa in sweet local worship.

The afternoon, steered by MCs Pastor Taz and Tina Nzuki, was easily a big success, made even more so by local acts including the NPC Choir, VUC and Kaberia and the Clan who also took turns on the stage, as well as Detour and ICED dancers.

The Celebration Choir ended their tour with a follow-up concert at the NPC Karen on 30th October, leaving Nairobi resounding once again with the shouts of Tambira that so captured the city four years ago.
