First brought to the attention of the Gospel world through the group Hip Hope, rapper Bupe has emerged to curve out a place of his own among the stable. And according to him, he's just getting started. Today, Bupe releases his newest jam, I Know Who You Are, and you're hearing it first right here on Mwafrika.com. We caught up with Bupe to talk about this release, what he's looking forward to this year, the 'inevitable' death of Chit Chat plus the title of his debut album. Here's how it went:

Mwafrika.com: It's been a long time dude, since we last had a chance to catch up. What's been going on with you?
Bupe: Hey wsup! Indeed it's been a long time coming and can't deny the fact that I have been lost! I've been up to a lot in the past year, not so much in people's faces but I'm very much around. I spent most of my 2011 in and out of Dar TZ and Kampala as well. The first few months of the year I lived in Dar as a missionary which was exciting then went back for a few events. I love being on the road I must say! Also, I've been involved in the Cleaning The Airwaves campaign with my brother and friend Astar among other artistes.

Mwafrika.com: Speaking of Astar, let's just get this out of the way - Astar and yourself have both been working hard at solo projects, Rigga is woking on a new album...yet nothing from your ensemble. is ChitChat dead?
Bupe: I guess it's inevitable!

Mwafrika.com: Alright...Tell us about this new jam,whats it called,who produced it?
Bupe: This jam is titled I Know Who You Are, produced by the very talented Jaaz Odongo. If you've heard of the rock group UETA and Jack Odongo then you know him!

Mwafrika.com: What's the story behind the jam?
Bupe: You know how skeptical you would be to trust or listen to someone you don't know? Well, I have found myself in that predicament so many times and I have come to realize that unless I spend time with God and know Him for who He really is, obedience and doing what He requires me to do is a challenge. In this song I'm basically saying I trust God because I know who He is.

Mwafrika.com: Is it just Bupe or are there other people featured on it and when is the video expected?
Bupe: Two are better than one my friend..This song is the chorus!! What! Thanks to the young, beautiful and talented Lisa Noah. Couldn't have had a better person on this jam than her. Everyone will agree with me that she kiiillled it!!! Youll be hearing more of her this year. This jam without a video would be a waste! Linked up with my Washamba Unltd friends again for this one..coming very soon. Im sure you'll love it!

Mwafrika.com: So with this release, does it mean we're expecting to see more of Bupe this year?
Bupe: Without a doubt my friend, by God's grace without a doubt!

Mwafrika.com: That's excellent stuff! One last thing: there was a rumor some time back of a Bupe album, how's that going? Can we expect it any time soon, and what will it look like?
Bupe: As I speak I have been in and out of studio working on the album. I'm looking at different genres fused with hip hop and so far, so good. It's now making sense why it's taken so long, I wasn't at the place of maturity and reasoning for an album two years ago. Now God has brought me to a place where my music is without a doubt an overflow of time spent with Him, hence the title of the album, OverFlow.

Mwafrika.com: That's great to know, we'll certainly be looking forward to that! Thanks for your time.
