The power of sound has been associated with some of the greatest moments in history: from speeches to symphonies. Sound cannot be ignored as an emotively powerful medium of communication.

Kijiji records are in the business of audio solutions.

Located in Sunrise Court, Golf course, on Mucai Drive off Ngong Road, Kijiji are a locally incorporated company that deals in the management, distribution and recording of African audio content. Their goal is to provide affordable audio solutions for media houses, advertising agencies and film makers.

They state their mission and vision as thus:

“Through the use of quality audio content, provide our audience with the soundtrack to their lives via an extensive distribution network”

“To make music and the arts a viable career choice for the African artist, create a sustainable industry within the African economies and through the arts be a tool for affecting social change”

One of their key related products includes their fully digital recording studio known as The Village. It primarily aims to put together packages, but it also sells studio time. Importantly, a jingle package is also available to advertising agencies and media houses.

In their hope of being a useful resource to the communication professional, V-Tunes was established. Royalty free music is provided that can be used as ambience for documentaries, films, multimedia presentations, TV programs and the like.

A Jingle package is also available for advertising agencies. This is inclusive of talent, production and creation.

Kijiji Records have also gone on to be trailblazers in the area of music production. They have served up an amazing number of full albums in a relatively short span of time. These include albums for jazz counterparts Hellon (Zamar) and Aaron (Keys of Life), as well as Kipawa winner Esther Kalunde (Mimi na Mungu), Chizi (Suluwe), and KORA winner DNG (My Testimony). Albums still in the workes include Gowi Odera's debut effort, and Kanjii Mbugua's first album outside of trail-blazing group Milele.

Other artists who have had work done at Kiji include US-based singer and actress (from “Tear of the Sun”) Aida , KORA winner Eric Wainaina, Syd, Melody, just to name a few.
