FAT MOD is an acronym standing for Faithful, Available, Teachable, Men of Destiny. The group composing four young men Ronald Obala, Lee Wendo, Antony nganga and caleb shikanda. Ronald known to close friends as ronny met jesus in 1996 at tender age of 14 while in primary school when sitting for his primary exams.

He had reached the end of his road though this was the second time that he dedicating his life he knew that this time it was real. He credits his steady relationship to good friends whom he says that he has been blessed with through high school. ”iron sharpens iron”.

Lee comes from a family of 8 and says that he realised he had a talent in singing and song writing after getting saved in 1997. Antony ”ng'ash” and caleb who were the later additions to the group to make fat mod got saved in june 2000 and jan 2001 respectiely.

Though Ronny had a love for music he had no prior knowledge that he would get into music and credits his involvement to lee. Lee had penned a song but had no rapper for a part of the song and with ronny's rhyming skills a duo was formed. They registered in a talent competiton at their local church in April 2001 making their debut with “watu wote” and though they did not win they continued to work on their music.

Antony and Mike joined from another group but shortly there after Mike left and then came in Caleb Shikanda. By this time they were known as Gospelholics but soon after adopted FATMOD because the name fitted their mission and objectives.

FATMOD's genre is fusion of dancehall and hip-hop kapuka. They had their first feel of a studio under Mike Olome of Sakata who produced the 1st recording “Chukua”. This was quite a learning curve for this young group as their debut recording received some air play in the local Christian radio stations.

Determined to make tracks that thought were conducive to their music and the drive to articulate their music the with their original ideas, lee got software and they made tracks which was used in one of their well known hits “Songa Kando” which led them to be nominated for the song of the year and group of the year 2005 at the groove awards.

They had had collabos with Mr. Googz and Daddy Owen keep your eyes peeled for these tracks. FAT MOD performed during the Extreme Weekend 2005, Ruff Wear launch and Daddy Owen's album launch.

Ronny draws his inspiration from the lord jesus and that He has provided him a platform spread the gospel through music. FAT MOD looks at Daddy Owen as an inspiration since has been a good teacher, advisor and thrives for quality and balance. In the international scene he admires the ambassador from cross movement for not only is he a true ambassador for the kingdom of god, his artistry and ability to feel ambassador's heart through his music.

Fat mod experiences teething problems like any young group as financial constraints like any upcoming local gospel group; rigidity from certain cores of the Christian community who have a presumed thought of what gospel music is and what it isn't!
