This young and talented singer is undoubtedly called to be a prophetic worshipper On the 24th day of April 2004, she stood on a brisk Sunday afternoon, with open arms to receive The Talent Mania Awards. She had been nominated and thereafter announced the winner in the outstanding female vocalist and outstanding rendition categories.
Unknown to her, this was to launch her into her singing career which she has embraced with untold diligence. Her mission statement being: “To serve God's purpose in her generation." True to this, she has recorded and released an outstanding reggae album entitled, TRUST IN THE LORD.
The young and talented reggae gospel singer hails from a humble family where she draws not only the encouragement but the support to become who she is. At twenty, she has released an outstanding album, turning heads in Kenya - not a mean achievement really. No doubt she didn't start singing at 20. Born to Ann and George in Nairobi Kenya, she was an enthusiastic child full of life and ambition - she actually believed that she could change the world at only four years of age. Being a jack of all trades, she tried many different things over the yeras, before developing a keen interest in the arts.
In her early childhood, her mother noticed that she would stay up at night and watch the likes of Whitney Houston and Michael Jackson, trying to mimic them. Born in a Christian family, she would not be the black sheep. The mother would feed her already growing appetite for music with tunes from golden bells and other hymn books. At five she was singing at family occasions. Consequently she was also a very active Sunday school gal and the little church kid’s choir mistress. It was at the age of ten that she did a Christmas musical and the choir master noticed her and she went on to become a great inspiration. At the time she was stopping at nothing to better her best and was a very active music club member in primary school. It was around this point in time that she discovered she had a gift in writing which oblivious to her would give her mileage in her music career.
During her high school years she did little in music and instead concentrated on drama and public speaking; notably she was still keeping a close touch with the arts however, during her third year in high school, she dazed her peers when she gave out a terrific performance during a carol service held by the school, the music teacher was constantly on her back during her final year. When she did a remarkable number of concerts in schools and churches.
In 2004, a few months after completing high school, she auditioned for the annual Talent Mania Awards. Dennis Wayesu, one of the judges constantly encouraged her and brought the best out of her when she scooped two awards in the solo performances. Hence forth, she joined church choirs and continued to expand her vocal ability.
Towards the end of April 2004, something tremendous that would change her life happened.
She was doing a teen’s concert and while on stage her manager to-be spotted her from behind. After the convert, she was invited to the studio, Asante Music. Her consistency, determination and hard work earned her a recording deal with the company. She ventured into reggae music a style she still holds close to her heart. Her producer then was Mike and in the following year, she worked with Mosse and Zheff who saw her to the end of the first project.
As the young musician rises to stardom she has only God to glorify. She however draws wisdom from prolific teachers like John C Maxwell, Zig Zigler and Rick Joyner. To the body of Christ she sings let us carry the mantle with caution for to whom much is given, much will be required.
Ultimately the sky is the limit and with God as her rear guard. She has already dropped her debut album "Trust in the Lord" (read the album review here), recorded at Tuff Audio. She now hopes her first album will be a success and that she will live to do many more for, as she believes, WITH GOD NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE.
