On meeting Mike olome the first impression is his reserved nature. Born in vihiga in western Kenya he spent his formative years up-country. He schooled in Chavakali High and credits his love for music to it being innate as his parents were members of the local church choir.

Though a regular church goer, Mike only got to find more about the lord while in college in Pakistan. Having completed his studies he knew that it was time to surrender his life to the lord Jesus and this began a new chapter in his life.

On stage Mike is known as witness and combines his singing and production. An avid song writer mike combines the two skills and stresses the importance of this strength to any budding producer.

A Bachelor of Commerce graduate in accounting, Mike seemed to stumbled into music production. Having completed high school he got a part-time job and would use his pay to buy loads of tapes which fuelled his curiosity of different music styles and how songs were produced. His involvement in production began while in Pakistan where he had a friend who was a disk jockey (dj) and doubled in production.

Mike had a passion to learn so would follow him to the studio when ever there was a recording where he sat, watched and learnt the intricacies of audio production. He would also buy magazines to increase his knowledge in production and to sharpen his skills. To his advantage the studio had a keyboard that enabled him to learn playing an instrument and credits his wide knowledge of music due to his 1 year stint as a DJ.

While in Pakistan he learnt the basics about music production and it has been 5 years since he has actively been in the gospel music industry. He has produced kenya 's top gospel artists such as SK Blue, Ambassada, Rufftone, Henri Mutuku and DJ Josh. His work has not gone un-noticed by the Kenya's gospel music industry as he has been voted producer of the year for two consecutive years 2004 and 2005. He singles the nomination and awarding of sk blue of the American Gospel awards 2004 and nomination of Vivian to this years event as highs of his time as a producer.

Mike “Sakata” as he is known to Christian musicians draws his inspiration from the lord Jesus and solely relies him. He particularly loves matthew 6;33 “but seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you as well”, and Isa 55;11 and believes that you can accomplish anything with God.

His first production was zunguka by benard and from that point on he has had hits with artists like Sk Blue, Ambassada and Henri Mutuku. He thrives on working with new artists teaching them the basics and gains satisfaction seeing artists he has worked with discovering the synergy of their calling and ministry since that makes them more effective.

According to Mike the industry has grown considerably since he started producing as there has been an increase in the number of artists but financial constraints hinder many up-coming musicians from having albums. “I believe music is the quickest and most effective tool to reach today's youth considering that 70% of the population in Kenya are youth.

Mike is the producer at Sakata Studio in Nairobi, Kenya.
