His love for music and entertainment started off at an early age. Eric Ocholla, better known as DJ riQ, started off as a dancer for the esteemed dance troupe DITTO. The group's official DJ of the time, DJ Kev, allowed riQ to assist in the work of his own ministry Mo Sound Entertainment. He got involved in a lot of the spadework that revolved around carrying and setting up equipment.

With time, he begun to pick up on the art of DJ-ing, and later signed up, as a novice, for the DJ Competition 110 Fingers organized by Homeboyz and Mo Sound Entertainment. As a novice, what he lacked in training he made up for with sheer enthusiasm and guts.

He surprised everyone, himself especially, when he came out a respectable 3 rd place. Realizing he could very easily win with more practice, he promised himself to come out on top the following year. He dug deep, kept training, kept practicing, and
come 2004 it was no big surprise when he scooped top prize.
This granted him a full scholarship to the HomeBoyz DJ Academy, where he proceeded to do exceptionally well, not only topping his class, but doing so with full distinctions. Leaving with his head held high, it wasn't long before the realities of the industry dawned on him; he was unable to find any work at the local DJ houses.

Not one to throw in the towel without a fight, he started off on his own, armed with only two disc mans. His passion for service led him to minister in various schools and events. Later that year, a church in Langata asked him to help coordinate one of their events. Realizing they could not afford his fee, he decided to do it at no cost. His generosity led him to go out and hire equipment, at his own expense, just for this one gig. He was absolutely astounded when one month later a gentleman who had been at the Langata event approached him offering him DJ equipment totally free of charge. The DJ Console and mixer had been lying unused for a little while, and this kind sir, a former DJ himself, saw no reason to hoard while others struggled.

DJ riQ's ministry now began to grow in leaps and bounds. Weddings, schools, colleges, churches, corporate functions; all these were a part of his ministry repertoire. Amazingly the very same gentleman who had blessed him with this equipment offered him a sizeable loan to formally set up his ministry. GospoEpic Entertainment , his entertainment outfit could now afford a full public address system, speakers and other gear.

In mid 2005, the African Evangelistic Enterprise engaged him to assist with some of its outreach efforts. Impressed with their evangelism approach, he turned down their offer to pay him, instead choosing to shoulder the cost himself. A team from the United States , who were part of this ministry effort were amazed by this young man's heart for service and ministry, and could not help but bless him in return.

If the gentleman from the Langata church surprised him, this time around he was absolutely flabbergasted. An amplifier, mixer, speakers, microphone and microphone stands, a bass amplifier, studio sampler, cables – all these and more were what they bought him in return for his services.

One would think this would spur his ministry to even greater heights – one would think!

DJ riQ would be the first to admit that whenever one seems to climb up the ladder, there are always those intent on chopping you down. Some of his business affiliates were so incensed with these happenings; they proceeded to take all the new equipment and vanish with it, claiming it for the business. This brought great grief and disappointment to Eric, uncertain why his close affiliates would turn on him. It was only when this matter became a police case that the equipment was returned. Nonetheless, the two parties had to split the gear between them.

This controversy did little to dampen his spirits, his resolve was strengthened. He proceeded to register GospoEpic Entertainment as a sole proprietorship, and go full steam ahead in ministry. He's been involved in a whole stack of missions, including a 6 month period in Nyeri, courtesy of Bishop Mungai. He has gone on to work with the ‘who's who' of the industry, from Kayamba Afrika and Pete Odera, to Wangeci Mbogo and DJ Josh, sharing a stage with them and being involved in various gigs. Highlights include Summerfest, X-Cans Leavers Bash, House of Grace Fun Day and youth breakfast, teen's week and others.

Price Waterhouse Coopers and World Vision are but a few of the corporates he's had opportunity to work with. He's also done numerous events and parties since, even involved in weddings for the Raila and Manduli families.

Now well established, he looks forward to establishing GospoEpic Entertainment as the premiere entertainment company in the industry.
